Governor Nyesom Wike: We’ll Take Over Power From APC in 2019

Governor Nyesom Wike

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has insisted that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would take over power from All Progressives Congress, the APC, in 2019.

Wike, who spoke, yesterday  in Port Harcourt, during the PDP state congress, maintained that the party would re-take the Federal Government in 2019.

Meanwhile,  Mr Felix Obuah, was returned as Chairman of Rivers State chapter of PDP at the party’s state congress, yesterday, in Port Harcourt. Some other members of the new state executive council are Vice Chairman, Mr Charles Awotu;  Sam Okpoko, Secretary and Caretaker Committee Chairman,  Ikwerre Local Government Area, Mr Sam Wonosike, Publicity Secretary of the party.

Meantime, the state chairman, Mr Obuah, in his speech,  alleged that  APC was behind recent killings and violence in the state, stressing that the party was scheming to achieve a declaration of state of emergency in the state with the alleged sponsored violence.

Obuah, who lauded Governor Wike for his successes so far, said those plotting the downfall of the government will not succeed. He said: “We supported the former governor, Mr Chibuike Amaechi, for two terms of eight years. Why has he and his supporters deliberately refused to support the PDP government in the state? I am very sad about the recent upsurge in killings in the state, but I suspect the APC is behind the sudden wave of violence in the state.”
