Jigawa immunises one million children against polio virus
No fewer than 1.250 million children below the ages of five in Jigawa State were immunized against polio virus in the just concluded polio routine immunization, the Director, State Primary Health Care, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim, has said.
“we were able to cover the state one hundred per cent, recording above eighty per cent higher than our projections.
With this success, I am confident to inform you that none of the 27 LGAs recorded less than 80 percent success coverage of the immunization.”
On work plan over polio eradication, Ibrahim stated that, “We are on course, through energizing efforts among our technical experts and our medical teams in identifying, monitoring, surveillance, control, as well provision of constant routine immunization, especially at the grassroots.
Other measures include collaboration with the state government, health professionals among other health experts in partnership on sensitization on monitoring, on preventive measures and control of the disease.”
